Formerly Kelvinside Parish Church, Òran Mór, Gaelic for ‘great melody of life’ or ‘big song’, is a thriving arts & entertainment venue in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
The dinner will be held in the Auditorium. The Auditorium is a breathtaking architectural setting. Beneath the celestial ceiling mural by Alasdair Gray, one of Scotland’s largest pieces of public art, guests can enjoy the fine Scottish food and impeccable service that has put the Oran Mor on the map as one of Glasgow’s leading venues.
What is a Ceilidh?
Originally the word Ceilidh (kay-lee) descended from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’… However, these days when people think of a Ceilidh, they think of a fun-filled night of wild dancing, good music and great company! A ceilidh is a traditional Gaelic social gathering which usually involves Celtic music and dancing.
The Ceilidh will be performed by the Drams Ceilidh Band. The Drams Ceilidh Band features 4 of Scotland’s finest folk musicians, each boasting a wealth of worldwide touring and performing experience with some of the biggest names on the UK music scene, such as the Skerryvore, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Manran, Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire, Scott Wood Band, Ímar and Rura. The band are renowned for their modern ceilidh sound and high-energy performances. They have performed at over 500 ceilidhs around the world.
